The newest member of the Getting to…series is: Getting to Grade Three NEW MIX

The New Mix books are a collection of compositions and arrangements that explore some of the genres and styles that emerged in the 20th Century, and also includes arrangements of classic pieces from the past 300 years that have become part of popular culture.

Ideal for 21st Century piano students they contain ‘Net Generation’ new classics written for film, television, musical theatre, radio and MTV.

Getting to Grade Three New Mix would be ideal easy win/learn one piece a week pieces for 40 Piece Challenge piano students who are studying at a grade 4 or 5 level.

Happy Birthday Getting to series

A big Happy Birthday to the Getting to…series!

All this month we will be celebrating the series, meeting the people who created the books and exploring the repertoire.

And yes, there will be cake!

The Getting to…series, brain child of Elissa Milne, was initially designed to answer the question: When are my students ready to move from the Hal Leonard Student Piano Library method book to exam material?

Of course in the 10 years since the series began it has become a staple teaching resource for thousands of teachers across Australia and New Zealand, regardless of which method they choose and for which examination system they are preparing their students.

Carefully crafted to address all examination criteria, students are encouraged to learn all 30 (or so) pieces in each volume. By the time students reach the end of each publication they have collected and really secured every technical skill required at a specific exam level. Exams can be taken confidently and students have a plethora of exam material and extra lists to choose from.
